If Lara Croft had a résumé, it would already be longer than a grappling hook rope—but she’s apparently not done adding to it. Netflix just dropped a brand-new official trailer for Season 2 of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and the internet is doing that thing where everyone pretends to be surprised even though we all knew this franchise can’t sit still for five minutes. Still, the hype is real: the series—launched late last year—is already a full-blown hit, proving once again that Lara refuses to retire, rest, or take a vacation like a normal person.

The animated series picks up right after the Survivor Trilogy (Tomb Raider 2013, Rise of the Tomb Raider 2015, Shadow of the Tomb Raider 2018), and Season 2 wastes no time dropping Lara smack into another globe-trotting crisis. This time, she’s racing across Africa to track down ancient relics before a techno-visionary with a god complex decides to break the world. Classic Tuesday for Lara. But the real excitement? Hayley Atwell is back voicing Lara—and if anyone can deliver a perfect mix of grit and charm, it’s her. Karen Fukuhara returns as Sam Nishimura, with new cast members O-T Fagbenle, Allen Maldonado, and Earl Baylon adding fresh firepower.

Fans of Netflix’s action animation already have high expectations—especially since the show is produced by Legendary Entertainment and animated by Powerhouse Animation, the same studio behind Castlevania and Masters of the Universe: Revelation. Translation: the fight scenes will go hard, the monsters will go harder, and Lara will probably run across at least three collapsing bridges because that’s just her thing. The series is still guided by showrunner Tasha Huo, who knows her way around fantasy drama and monster-slaying chaos.

It’s also kind of surreal to realize this comes 25 years after Lara first jumped into our lives in polygon form, her pointy elbows and triangular everything changing video game history forever. Since then, she’s starred in games, films, comics, advertisements, and possibly at least one Halloween costume in every friend group. So the fact that she’s thriving in an animated series that fans actually enjoy? Consider it a victory lap—a stylish, cinematic one with ancient curses and ridiculous stunts included.

Season 2 arrives on December 11, 2025, which means we’re all mere months away from watching Lara Croft do what Lara Croft does best: save the world, break some artifacts, outrun physics, and look amazing doing it. And yes—people are watching this. In fact, between the buzz, the binge-happy fans, and the enthusiasm on gamer forums, it looks like Netflix may have finally found the perfect non-gaming home for the world’s favorite tomb raider.
